The £250,000 Guaranteed Grand Prix Poker Leg 1, held at Dusk Till Dawn, Nottingham might have just missed the required minimum runners to hit the hefty £250,000 Guarantee, however it was seen as an unprecedented success by both Rob Yong, owner of Dusk Till Dawn, and by the thousands of players that took part.
Hosted at Dusk Till Dawn before the tour travels to iconic football stadiums across the UK including Stamford Bridge, Old Trafford, St James’ Park, Hampden Park and many more, the first event attracted over 3500 entries from the poker community right across the UK. The low buy-in / high guarantee format is proving very popular with players, who had to pay just £60+£10 to enter, with many qualifying online with partypoker.
The Grand Prix Poker Tour is hosted by Michelle Orpe, a natural in front of the camera, but far from a natural in front of goal, and many players were excited to be able to meet not only Michelle, but boxing legend Carl Froch, poker legends Mike Sexton and Marty Wilson in addition to meeting many of their online opponents for the first time!
There was plenty of fun taking place across the weekend, with a real football competition outside, and table football competitions inside, it was a wonder any poker actually took place! However it did, and Dusk Till Dawn was packed to the rafters on the Saturday, which was the final Day 1.
Day 2 saw a total of 362 players, all of whom made the money, in a nice feature of the tour where all Day 2 players receive a min cash and a ticket to a future Grand Prix Leg of their choice. Choice is an important feature of the Grand Prix Poker Tour, which also features unique Online Day 1s where players can chose to take their Day 2 chip stack to any live leg of their choosing, with an estimated 60% of players making Day 2 via this route already picking Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford, it looks like the stadium poker tournaments are going to be very popular.
Almost 12 hours after play resumed on Day 2, the field has been reduced to the unofficial final table of 9. Whilst the live streamed feature table had been being broadcast all weekend, by the time the final table was formed, the HD cameras were broadcasting to thousands watching online. And with commentary from Mike Sexton, Mad Marty Wilson and Paul Zimbler, to name but a few, the broadcast went down a storm.

Kelly Peters fell in 9th place when her Ace-Nine failed to improve against the King-King of Andrew Garland. Ace-Nice also signalled the exit of Robert Owen, when Zahir Aslam’s pocket fives held on with a King-Queen-Seven-Six-Four board.
Seventh place went to Michael Sheldon along with over £5,000 in prize money, plus another £5,000 as Sheldon was one of three Golden Chip holders on the feature table. A promotion which could net a player an additional £35,000 if they won the whole event. Andrew Garland was 6th and like Sheldon netted an additional £5,000 prize thanks to his Golden Chip, taking home the equivalent of 4th place money with £11,580.
This left only Paul Romain in the running for the big £35,000 extra Golden Chip prize.
Fifth place and £8,610 went to Chris Bartlett shortly before fourth place was claimed by a player who asked remain anonymous.
Eventual winner Ben Preece then took care of Aslam, when his Nine-Nine held on against King-Queen, however the £16.450 third place prize was probably decent consolation for Zahir.
With two players remaining, and Romain holding a Golden Chip, the tension was clearly felt around the table. If Romain won, he’d take home £70,000 thanks to the bonus prize of £35,000 for having a Golden Chip, if Preece won, Romain would have to settle for “just” £28,100.
The final hand was a familiar one when Paul Romain moved all in with Nine-Nine and was called by Preece, who this time was the player holding King-Queen. The flopped Queen meant Romain had just two outs to claim that massive first place bonus, however it wasn’t to be and Ben Preece became the first Grand Prix Poker Tour Champion.
Romain’s £5,000 Golden Chip bonus saw him win a total of £28,100, and Preece claimed the title, the trophy and first prize of £35,000.

Jose gets all in with 88 and is against AT of Ben. The board runs KK3 J J and the J on the river counterfits the Pair of 8's for Jose. Jose ironically folded 88 earlier when he had 3 BB's and he would have have trippled up. Jose takes home £11,720 for his efforts.
We have 1 Golden Chip left. Paul Romain is the only player left who can win the prize of £35K for the Win and £35K for the Golden Chip promotion.

Just a reminder that we have a Final Table when we get to 8 Players.
Zahir raises to 625K on the button with Andrew Garland making it 2m on the BB. Zahir asks how much Andrew is Playing and its 7.6m more. Zahir then announces All in. Andrew has a count of his chips and contemplates. He Folds showing 99 and Zahir has a look at his cards and passes them to the Dealer.
Action folded to George Evans in middle position and he raised to 625,000. Zahir Aslam next to act then three bet to 1,650,000 and the blinds quickly folded. Evans had no hesitation in moving all in for 3,000,000 but was in trouble when Aslam instantly called and rolled over Ah Ad. Evans could only turn over Ac Kd and despite flopping a straight draw on the Qd 7d Js flop, then 3d turn and Ks river was no help and he exited just short of the final table.
George Evans - Eliminated

Action folds to David L'Honore on the button and he raises to 1,000,000, leaving 250,000 behind. Zahir Aslam in the small blind moves all in and the big blind folds. L'Honore calls and shows Kd Qs, which is behind to Aslam's Ad 8d.
There is no change on the 8h 2c 2s flop, as L'Honore can still hit either card to win. The turn, however, leaves L'Honore drawing dead as the As is the doom card, leaving L'Honore to shake hands and leave the table as the 4d hits the river.
David L'Honore - Eliminated
Zahir Aslam - 7,500,000

Lim Terence shoved holding Js Jc from the big blind after Zahir Aslam raised under the gun. Aslam called holding Ah Jh and flopped the world on a Ad 7s Ac flop. This left Terence drawing dead as the remaining Jack would give Aslam a higher full house, and the board ran out 9c turn and Kh river to send the pot to Aslam.
Zahir Aslam raises to 260k and Sean Rigley announces ALL IN for 700K. Zahir calls.

Alex Zacharakis Eliminated
Date: 18/10/15 - 17:54
Posted by: Adam
Long time chip leader Alex Zacharakis has had a terrible two levels and has just busted in 80th place. He moved all in with As Ts but ran into Richard King's Kc Kh, and the first card out was the Ks. Zacharakis flopped a straight draw though as the flop was completed by the 6h and Qc, but no Jacks appeared on the 3d turn or Tc river.
As we are down to less than 90 players, the tournament director Danny Bell has facilitated the move to 9 handed tables, giving players some much needed room!
The following players have exited since the break:
88 Ashley Ward
89 Martin Bremner
90 Gary Robertson
91 Andrew Brisland
92 Terry Carter
93 James Parker
94 Mitchell Johnson
95 Paul Lyons
96 Dan Medley
Lee Radford found himself all in with Queens against James Parker's A-K. It was a classic flip and it would be Radford who held on the 3-4-Q-T-5 board, sending Parker to the rail and putting Radford over average chips with 90 left.

Oakton Hits 2-Outer To Stay Alive
David Oakton has a massive grin on his face right now! He moved all in preflop holding 5c 5h, only to be called by Robert Moss who had Th Td. Unfortunately for Moss, the flop was 8c 9s 5s, giving Oakton a set of fives, which turned into a full house on the 8s turn.
Moss still had two outs on the river, but the 4h was not one of them, and Oakton raked in the near 400,000 pot whilst Moss was left to count his depleted stack, but still alive, albeit a wounded animal.
We are now on Level 28. Blinds are 12,000/24,000 with a 4,000RA. 117 Remain Chips Average is 495,726

Carl Froch has just come over to inform us that he has busted in 148th place. He found a pair of queens in the hole when he was in the blinds and called all in after another player jammed. The opponent had Ace high but the turn was an Ace to send Carl to the rail.

Paul Hardy had been having a tough time of it over the last two levels and pushed all in for his last 100,000 preflop with Qs Js Unfortunately for him, Denis Ford was sat behind with Ad Ks and also moved all in. Everyone else folded and Denis flopped an Ace to leave Paul drawing dead by the turn of a 2d 2c Ah 7s 4d board, sending him to the rail.
Here is a further list of players who have busted.

Over on Table 58, Jason Vencatachellum moved all in preflop with Q-9, only to be called by second chip leader Alex Zacharakis who held A-T. Despite the drawtastic J-T-9 flop, Zacharakis' hand held after the 2 turn and A river to send Vencatachellum to the rail.
There are currently 190 players still fighting (including Carl Froch) for the opportunity to take home the title and the £35,000 first prize!

Players are now off on the first Break of the Day.
Craig Dawson shoves and is called by Lawrence Gosney. Craig has 46 and Lawrence has JJ The board runs out 824 J J. Just the Quads for Lawrence and he doubles his stack to 350k.
Over on Table 37, action folded to Tom Hall in middle position, who moved all in for 90,000. Paul Hardy, a previous DTD Grand Prix winner, called, only for action to fold around to Mihai Ungureanu, who also moved all in for 150,000. Hardy covered both players and sighed before calling.
Hardy: Jh Jd
Ungureanu: As Ac
Hall: 8s 8h
The flop was the drawtastic 5s Js 3s, leaving Hardy calling for red cards as both of his opponents had spades. The turn was the 4d, giving Ungureanu more outs, but the river was the Qh, meaning that Hardy cracked the Aces to send both of his opponents heading to the cash desk and putting him over 400,000 in chips.

Over on Table 63, a short stacked Patrick Boden moved all in preflop for 30,000. Jason Chillmaid called on the button and Russell Betts flicked in a call from the big blind.
The flop was 4s 3s Ts and both remaining active players quickly checked. The turn was the 6h and Betts led into a dry side pot for 18,000. Chillmaid called and the 9s rolled off on the river. Betts quickly reached for chips again and fired out 45,000. Chillmaid instantly folded and Betts wasted no time in showing As Td for the nuts. Boden ruefully showed Ac 4c and exited stage left as Betts raked in the pot.
Here are the Bigger Stacks around the room
| First | Last | Chips |
| Jon | Kalmar | 1,500,000 |
| Jason | Chillmaid | 700,000 |
| Christopher | Nicholas | 640,000 |
| Martin | Ward | 600,000 |

Jon 'Skalie' Kalmar has arrived and taken his seat, late, on Table 45. It hasn't taken him long to wield his stack though. Skalie played an online Day 1 and finished with a massive 1,200,000 chips by the end of Level 18, meaning he came into Day 2 as the standout chip leader.
As I arrived at the table, he was all in along with Tina Ainsworth and Nigel Sutcliffe, with action on Costel Catalin Vacaroiu. It appeared that Sutcliffe was all in for one big blind, and Skalie had raised to 15,000 with the blinds at 3,000/6,000 with a 1,000 ante. Vacaroiu had called, only for Ainsworth to move all in for 90,000. Skalie had reshoved, covering everybody in the room (never mind the table) and Vacariou went into the tank before making a very good call.
Skalie: Kd 4d
Ainsworth: Ad Ts
Vacaroiu: As Jd
Sutcliffe: 8c 5s
The first card out was the Ks, which made everyone else's head drop, but the second card was the Qh, giving both Ainsworth and Vacaroiu outs. They didn't materialise, however, on the 7c Qc 5d runout of the board, giving Skalie top two pair and the entire pot, knocking out all three players in one go.
Over on Table 32, action folded to Jamie Clossick who opened to 12,000. Simon Lawlor called only to see Juan Barrios move all in from the small blind. Peter Colclough in the big blind checked his cards before quickly moving all in as well. Action was back on Clossick who asked Lawlor how much he was playing, to which Lawlor replied "I had 70,000 at the start of the hand." This was enough to get Clossick to fold, and Lawlor quickly followed, quipping "And I have 58,000 now!"
Barrios flipped 5s 5d and Colclough was holding As Kc for a classic race, which was quickly ended when the dealer fanned out a 5h 3d 9s flop. The 6h turn sealed the deal for Barrios, and the Qs was a meaningless river. Barrios had about 70,000 at the start of the hand and after paying him off, Colclough was left with 40,000.

Patrick Sunter on the Button shoves all in.Michael Kilby then Reshoves the SB. Kelvin Mullis jokes that he hopes he finds a monster. He has a look at says IM ALL IN!!!!. The hands are:
Patrick 1010, Michael KK and Kelvin AA Board runs out 2210 A 9 Kelvin Scoops the Lot and we lose Patrick, Michael is still in but his stack has been severley hit.
Many of the shortstacks had the same plan when play started today. Get it in and double up.
However, for some of them, they haven't been successful and have left us in the first level. They will all take home a min cash of £210 (which includes a $109 ticket to a future leg of the GPPT).
One of those was Thomas Kong, who found himself facing an all in bet on a Ts Jd 9c flop from John Sadler. After a short dwell, Kong called, and Sadler flipped over Jh Td for top two. Kong could only show Ac 2c and found no help on the Qd turn and 4c river to send him to the cash desk.
The following players have joined him at the desk through Level 1:
345 Joseph O'mahoney
346 Michael Wood
347 Ron Bishop
348 Emma Bullard
349 Ed Foreman
350 Laurentiu Raducan

Over on Table 27, Jason Vencatachellum opened to 10,000 when action folded to him, and he thought he was going to steal the blinds and antes until Michal Valovic in the big blind defended. The pair saw a flop of 7h Qs Ah and Valovic checked. Vencatachellum bet 12,000 and Valovic called.
The turn was the Kc and both players knuckled the felt. The river was the 4s and Valovic led out for 24,000. Vencatachellum quickly called, and Valovic showed Ks Ts which was good enough to scoop the pot.

Over on Table 64, action is five handed after a raise and four callers preflop, and the dealer fans out a flop of 2h 8h 2s. This ends up being checked around, and the turn is the 2c, which is also checked around.
The river is the Td and this prompts Jose Pinto, who is first to act, to fire out 4,000. Manuel Sousa Araujo then moves all in for 13,500 and Phil Adams calls. All other players fold and the remaining pair both show J-T, with Araujo holding Jh Th and Adams holding Jc Tc for a chopped pot!

Sunil Mistri moved all in under the gun for 2,625, having been saying that he is ready to give it up and go home..."Anywhere but here!"
Jo Howard called behind which prompted everyone else to fold, and flipped Jd 9s. Mistri said "I've looked at one" and flipped the Qs...and then the Qd! Howard fake-snarled as the table laughed, and Mistri put his hands up in mock-surrender.
The dealer put out the Ac 2c 4s flop, and then the 3h turn, which prompted BOTH Mistri and Howard to shout "FIVE!"
This caused the dealer to pause and the table to keep laughing, but the river was eventually the As and the pot was shipped to Mistri. Well, it was after a delay, as the dealer decided to listen to the calls of both players and chop the pot! This was quickly rectified and Mistri moves back up to 6,000.

We spotted Jo earlier today as she took her seat for Flight 2 this afternoon, having won a satellite online and choosing to play live, just like many of the players who are in attendance today.
However, Jo's story is slightly different. She's pregnant. Very pregnant. I asked her when her due date was and got a great reply.
"Monday!"
And yet she's still here, having driven over 100 miles with her partner Jason, who is also playing in Flight 2. Not only that, but when I spotted her, she was sat on her phone playing the 5pm 100 seat MEGA satellite on PartyPoker.com! She explained that whilst driving up she'd entered a $0.01 flipathon for a $22 seat and won that, without even realising, and logged on to find out she was in the satellite!
Sadly for Jo, she wasn't successful in the satellite, but she is still going strong in Flight 2 and is planning to take it down...without going into labour on the way!

After a raise to 3,600 preflop and two callers, Gary Strang moved all in for 34,700. Action folded to Dave Jepson, and he re-shoved all in, causing everyone else to fold.
Strang flipped over Kc Jc but was dominated by Jepson's Ah Jh and this one was over by the turn, with the board running out Ts 2h Qh 4h 5c to give Jepson the nut flush and send Strang to the rail.

There's not an empty table to be found here at DTD.
Flight 1 is currently at Level 12, where the blinds are 800/1,600 with a 200 ante. 84 players remain on 9 tables and they will play 6 more levels after this, meaning we are expecting that flight to finish at around 10.45pm tonight.
Flight 2 is currently on Level 5, where the blinds are 150/300 with a 50 ante. 211 players remain on 22 tables and that flight will play down until 2am tonight.
Flight 3, a turbo, will have a shot clock. This is due to start in 25 minutes, at 7pm, and that one is expected to finish at around 1.40pm. There are currently 36 players registered and as always, a queue to the door and beyond!
You can buy in to the Turbo until 9.20pm, or if you want to play online, there are two events called Player's Choice events, and they start at 7pm and 9pm respectively on PartyPoker.com.
There is also a 100 seat MEGA satellite due to run at 7pm that will feed into the 9pm Player's choice event!

Ryan Mason found himself all in against Connor Heelis. The board was reading 7d 4h Ad 8d Jd and Mason, holding Kd Qd for the nuts, was being paid off by Heelis who held 4s 4d for a cracked flopped set. After the dust had settled, Mason moved over 50,000 whilst Heelis dropped to approximately the same amount.

Graham Farbrace looked down at K-9 and decided it was enough to commit his remaining 6,500 chips. David Jones was next to act and he also moved all in, leaving Farbrace grimacing. Everyone else wisely got out of the way, and Farbrace's worst fears were realised as Jones flipped over A-A.
The first card out on the flop was a 9, giving Farbrace hope, but the dealer extinguished that by the river, the board reading 9-5-6-2-6, giving Jones a higher two pair and sending Farbrace to the rail, where he has 20 minutes left to buy in to Flight 2!

Over on table 25, Matthew Walsh opened to 2,500 under the gun. Deborah O'Connell was next to act and moved all in for her remaining 10,000. Action folded back to Walsh and he resignedly called, commenting on how he was dominated.
He was indeed crushed, as he could only flip over 6d 5d and O'Connell flipped over Th Td. The tables were sadly quickly turned, however, as the dealer couldn't stop bringing diamonds on the 9d 2d Kd flop, but O'Connell was not out of it, as she had the Td and another diamond would send the pot her way.
It was not to be though, as the board ran out 2s 3c to send the pot to Walsh and send O'Connell out of Flight 1.

Over on Table 37, Hayden Franklin opens to 1,025 under the gun. A short stacked Bob Tait, outfitted in his infamous hat and kilt with dagger as card protector, moves all in for 8,000, only to see Brian Welby also move all in next to speak. Action folds around to Franklin, who asks for a count of Welby's stack, which is 13,850. Franklin claims he is going to make a tight fold, but opts to flick in the chips, and he has Ah Jh, which is behind to Welby's Kd Ks and Tait's Qh Qc.
The flop is Jd Kc 2h, and Tait begins to stand up, but the Qs on the turn means he still has one out remaining. The river is the Jc, which gives Tait a full house, but Welby has the higher full house and moves to 40,000, whilst Tait is eliminated and Franklin drops back into the pack.

Over on Table 23, we spotted three players all standing up in a row. Mark Dillon, Stephanie O'Connell and an anonymous player had found themselves all in, only this time the hands were a little bit better...Dillon holding As Kc, O'Connell holding Jc Jd and the anonymous player holding Qs Qh. O'Connell had both players covered but Dillon was the relieved man after the flop, which came Kd 4s 5d, as he was the short stack.
The turn brought the Ks and that gave his opponents only two outs each, which they missed on the Th river. After the dust had settled, Dillon had trebled up to 50,000, whilst the anonymous player dropped to 25,000 and O'Connell was left with fumes.
At the same time, over on table 31, Debbie O'Connor was first to act on a Qh 8c 8s flop and bet out 1,800. Her opponent, Amanda Birney, moved all in for 15,200 in total and after a quick count of her remaining chips (and a check that there were still two more flights she could buy in to), O'Connor called.
O'Connor was ahead with an overpair, Kd Ks, whilst Birney held "top top", showing Ac Qd. The turn was a dagger to O'Connor however, the Qc improving Birney's holding to trips, and the river just rubbed it in, the As further improving Birney's hand to a full house and doubling her up to 35,000.

I get to Mike's table and he calls with Jc Qh 2 Others are in the hand. Flop comes 8c9hTs. Kelvin Mullis leads amd Mike calls behind. Turn is 2s Kelvin bets and Mike calls. River brings 8h, and Kelvin leads and Mike quickly calls. Kelvin has 9T for Flopped 2 Pair but that doesnt beat the Flopped Straight.

Dusk till Dawn regular Tommy Bingham sits atop our chip counts, he has 38,000 (nearly double starting stack). He is joined up there by Dominic Smith and Artur Wrobel, who have 36,000 and 35,000 respectively and are motoring through the early stages of this Day 1.However, PartyPoker's Mike Sexton isn't faring too well, he has 18,000 currently and is battling hard.
An update from Twitter courtesy of Rob Hurst, who is sat at Table 37 (next to Tommy Bingham, as it happens)
Guy opposite just got a royal flush, fortunately I wasn't in the hand #gppt @DTD_Cardroom @DTD_Online

Over on table 21, it hasn't taken long for the aggression to show.
Chris Durell has bet 3,000 into a 4,000 pot on the turn of a Kc Qc Jh 2c board, only to see his opponent, Christopher Brion, move all in, having previously checked. The table are stunned and Durell quickly folds. Brion grins and casually flips over Ac 8c for the nuts, raking in the pot as Durell smiles to himself, knowing he got away from one.

So what can you expect?
The Grand Prix Poker Tour takes the already phenomenally successful Dusk Till Dawn Grand Prix tournaments to major football stadiums across the UK. We’re taking the UK’s leading “Low Buy-in – High Guarantee” tournament concept to stadiums in England (Stamford Bridge, Old Trafford, St James’ Park, Amex Stadium), Scotland (Hampden Park) and Wales (Cardiff City), plus our famous Dusk Till Dawn Casino in Nottingham, and several legs online.
Our first leg takes place on 17th and 18th October at Dusk Till Dawn, with our second leg taking place at Stamford Bridge, London in late November. With an Online Leg taking place in December, we return to football stadiums in January 2016 with our Old Trafford leg. Check out the full schedule here.
The first 3 live legs (DTD, Stamford Bridge, Old Trafford) are guaranteed at £250,000 with a buy in of just £60+£10.
And the value doesn’t stop there, oh no. There’s a Grand Prix Golden Chip promotion where you could win a Porsche, or a Holiday of a Lifetime…every leg.
There’s a WPT £100,000 Leaderboard, which as the name suggests is a Leaderboard with £100,000 worth of WPT seats up for grabs.
The Grand Prix Poker Tour is online buy-in (or qualification) only, there’s no point turning up at Old Trafford with £70 in your pocket, you’ll need to buy in on your partypoker account. When (and it is a when for a talented player like you) you finish ‘in the money’ your prize money will be paid back into your partypoker account.
There are literally dozens of ways to win your Day 1 seat online every day, with Daily UK tournaments, DTD Ticket Satellites and event specific satellites (coming soon), you can win your seats from as little as $5.50, or even $1.10 in our qualifiers.
Dollars?
The partypoker lobby is entirely structured in USD, so our satellites and tickets are listed as dollar tournaments. The $109 Ticket is the equivalent of a £60+£10 buy in.
That all sounds ace, what else?
You want more? Ok. The Grand Prix Poker Tour is the first time a poker tour gives players the ability to play a Day 1, make it through to Day 2 and then choose a Day 2 at any future leg. Yes any. So let’s look at the choices Bob might have. Bob plays an Online Day 1 – Players Choice, and gets through to the end of play with 250,000 chips. Bob will be able to use this website (new Players Choice system coming very soon) and choose which Day 2 he wishes to play, so if Bob fancies playing at Old Trafford in January 2016 (great choice Bob, you know you wanna), he can, even if he plays his Day 1 in September 2015! Now…that’s flexibility!
The Grand Prix Poker Tour won’t be about just poker though, the live legs will feature all manner of things to entertain players and keep people occupied whether it be The Crossbar Challenge, Fussball Championships, Speed Pool and much much more. You’ll be able to meet sporting legends, enjoy a pint with famous poker players and make a full weekend of it. We can’t wait, it’s going to be the best poker tour the UK has ever seen!
See you in Nottingham, or Stamford Bridge, or Old Trafford, or…..
